In my friend is sad, Piggie realizes his friend Gerald is sad, so she tries to cheer him up dressing as a cowboy, a clown, and even as a robot! But there is a special reason why Gerald is still sad. Through this story you can comment on with your children about different feelings.

Suggested questions:

What makes you feel sad? 

What do you do when you are sad? 

What makes you feel happy? 

Through this simple story children are provided with an opportunity that not only develops linguistic skills, but also aids socio emotional areas encouraging them to express their own experiences.

- Do you have a baby brother or sister? Do you take care of him?

- How did Za Za feel about the baby?

- How did you feel about the baby?

- Did Za Za enjoy being nice with the baby?

- What happened at the end of the story?

Bernard the Robot lost his bottom at the park swing, and set off to find it. Every time he got close, it disappears again! Bird was using it as a nest, but it was too heavy; Bear used it in his drum kit, but it was too tiny. Will Bernard ever get his bottom back?

A funny story that will provide your child the chance to develop language skills in an engaging way.

- Where was his bottom at the end?

- What was your favorite part of the story?

Through this story children are provided with a valuable experience which supports the recognition of different feelings. It also presents friendship, and humility as a gift. 

Dog loves his friends but he also thinks he is the best. He will not stop telling them!  Encourage your children to predict. What happens when his friends decide to teach him a lesson, by showing him all the things they are best at?

- How did the other animals feel?

- Can you name the animals from the book?

- What are you good at? 

 

Extended activity:

Ask the children to draw a picture showing what makes them special.

Through this beautiful book children can identify different emotions. A group of girls advise the monster to put each of his emotions in a jar. Each emotion is represented by a color. At the end of the day, the monster felt calmed and peaceful.

 

Suggested questions :

-How was the monster feeling at the beginning of the story? 

-When have you felt confused /happy /angry/sad?

-What can we do when we feel sad/angry?

This story is an amazing opportunity to invite your child to share which situations are his/her favorite moments of fun. Through this story children not only develop linguistic skills such as listening comprehension, oral expression but also the ones that are part of the socio- affective area.

Gerald is very proud of how far he threw his ball. Piggie is impressed and wants a turn to throw it. When Piggie tells the secret "Just have Fun", Gerald is shocked! 

Piggie is very pleased with his first throw. It goes around the world! Even after he learns that he threw the ball backward, he skips off very pleased with himself. For a moment, Gerald is confused ... it didn't go far, so why is Piggie happy?

- Who is better at throwing the ball Piggie or Gerald? Who has more fun throwing the ball?

- What is Piggie's secret?

Pip was riding on his scooter, he had a lot of fun with it. Then his friend Posy suddenly appeared and snatched the scooter. She went as fast as she could. She went up and down. Then she fell off the scooter. Pip felt worry about her friend and look after her, at the same time she apologized for taking the scooter. Finally they had a big hug, played together and went to have tea.
